I received a note in my inbox this morning, and wanted to share it with you all. As each case presents with its own unique circumstances, it would be careless of me to claim that I can expect the same results in all of my clients. Nonetheless, if you understand the triggering patterns of a disease process, and work to incrementally correct those patterns…I routinely see dramatic shifts in health over relatively short periods of time. Here’s a recent client’s story…
From Shingles to Chronic Wellness
“I first met and went to see Dr. Rinehart when I was suffering from Shingles in August 2011. From online study, I essentially knew how I had come to get hit with this horrible condition, which in my case was from running myself ridiculously hard for a good 6 months prior, all building up to a staggering crescendo of physical and mental exhaustion.
Additionally, all of this culminated as the outdoor weather hit nearly 100 degrees for over a week in July 2011, a week when I had been working long hours outside and stupidly propelling myself through all of it with a diet that consisted largely of sugary and processed foods and lots and lots of caffeine as well as alcohol at night to smooth the edges.
I realize of course how “not very smart” this sounds and in fact was, but I am being honest here. Life has a way of throwing situations at all of us from time to time, situations that can get any of us derailed as I had allowed myself to become.
In my particular case, I had heavy deadlines to meet and just basically ignored all the usual and practical health measures I probably would have adhered to. The result however was a pretty steep and painful learning curve because all the above just taxed my 60 year old immune system horribly; and I essentially opened myself up to shingles.
As a result of suffering from that particularly nasty condition, I became utterly aware that a.) I never wanted this disease ever again and b.) I needed to get really serious about building myself up and getting and staying healthy. Pain does indeed instruct.
Although I had gone to see two doctors (my personal physician and a neurologist), all either could recommend to me were different types of pain killers to relieve the symptoms. Gee, that’s just great.
While I well understood that this was a viral condition and not easily negated with pharmaceutical remedies, I was also perplexed at the singular approach to dealing with the condition, which was essentially “here, take pain killers.” No information or advice was given even once as to how to build myself up again, even though both doctors completely agreed that in all likelihood the exhaustion, stress and nutrition factors described were quite probably the perfect storm that got me into this unfortunate condition in the first place.
I was as amazed as much as I was unhappy, and I remembered what a doctor’s visit was like back when I as a kid, where some nutritional advice was always included as part of any given treatment regimen. I needed help, and I needed better help.
Dr. Rinehart’s consultation and advice provided everything I had hoped the other two doctors would have but didn’t. After the initial phone interview and the filling out of his comprehensive forms, the very first equally comprehensive session with him provided sound and accurate advice for how to build myself up again so as to avoid any repeat shingle relapse developments in the future.
All of his thorough advice and recommended supplements were tailored specifically for me and explained in such an open and easy to understand way that it was all immediately comprehensible. I followed all of his advice to the letter and am currently healthy, pain free, and have thrown the damn pain killers in the garbage. As I write this, it is October 4th 2011, which gives you an idea of how fast everything worked once I got serious about it all.
Please understand, Dr. Rinehart is neither God nor a miracle worker: if you aren’t committed to getting real with yourself and making lifestyle and nutritional changes you may well be wasting your time.
But if — like I was and am — you are really serious about wanting to be healthier and feeling better and staying that way and are willing to do some work, you will not find a better ally for that journey. I can’t say enough good things about this remarkable and insightful professional. He really helped me get back on track, where others were able to contribute very very little to the process.”
