Health foods are becoming more and more available but health claims are becoming even more widespread. Instead of saying sugar, labels now say “natural cane sugar” or contain images of idyllic farm landscapes when in fact the product is shrink-wrapped in plastic and came to you from a network of conveyer belts.

So many of us rationalize our grocery choices too quickly — and we fail to provide our bodies with the right foods required to promote health. Many of us think that for a product to be allowed on the shelves, it must be safe. I mean, don’t these things go through rigorous study and testing? Unfortunately, they do not.
